Thanks for checking out my website. Please come by often. Here you’ll find information about my writing, the process, coming events, the joys and headaches, and some wonderful people who are my inspiration. These days, there is no shortage of writers…only a dwindling supply of publishers taking on new ones. It has always been a challenge for writers to woo and win an agent or an editor. In today’s world, the problem is even more daunting. Many writers find having a website improves their chances of attracting the attention of the public in general and agents and editors in particular. It’s a new world, and self-promotion is not considered the “bad” thing it once was. Here is my voice. Welcome, and make yourself comfortable.

I said, “Goodbye” to a friend today. I’m planning to go back after the weekend, but you never know. She’s had a rough life: full of physical illness, childhood trauma, loss of a child shortly after birth, divorce, and the ravages of age. She’s less than three months away from her 87th birthday. Her current state of health is dismal and the family’s been told it’s only a matter of three or four weeks. She
This morning was a fairly typical beginning of the week. I’m looking to get organized for the next seven days, and I’m brimming with insights. 1. I’ve Become My Father – No lie, I remember when I was much younger, I saw my father entering into “old fogeyness” (if that’s not a word it should be!) It seemed to me he railed against everything new and, in my opinion, exciting. Whereas all my life we’d
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, talking parrots and animals of good taste! This is the announcement I’ve been waiting for—The Easter Egg Murder is now available on Kindle! I was excited when the actual book was delivered into my hands. I could thumb through its pages, knowing these were my words, and now everybody could read them. But the world has changed in the last couple of years (yes, no kidding! It has! Just
The wind that should have blown in March, continues into April, and I’m so tired of it! I cough a great deal, and it makes me edgy and unsettled. I’m ready for the REAL spring! We had a fabulous trip to Colorado Springs in March at Left Coast Crime. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon late, and all was fine until we woke up Saturday morning to an icy cold day with snow all over the
Today starts the week of initiation. I’m frantically preparing for a five-day stay in Colorado Springs for Left Coast Crime 2013. This conference will mark my debut in the world of authors, and for the first time, my book and I will be introduced to attendees. I’ve been waiting for this occasion for so long it’s difficult to realize it’s almost here. I’m driving up with two dear friends from my writer’s critique group. We’re
Back in the dark ages (before I understood the nature of these things) I figured finding a publisher for my book would be the biggest hurdle and most difficult part of the writing process. Well, as you know from reading my previous post, that happened on September 6 last year. One would think I’d have all sorts of time for blogging and catching up on things. One would be wrong! Granted, finding a publisher is
